I’ve embarked on a ‘new adventure’. I think it sounds cooler than what it may really be. With this ‘new adventure’ I am walking into the unknown. This has become very apparent to me in the recent days.
I’ve discovered they do not speak in the same dialect and I am re-learning some of the most basic Thai phrases. Transportation is very different up in the north. Things are more spread out and harder to get to. I am still getting familiar with where I am at, how to communicate effectively and getting things in order.
I finally got my cell phone plan set up, after 3 long days. The man getting me situated said so himself that it normally doesn’t take this long.
After countless phone calls and e-mails, someone finally responded and I am super excited to say that I am meeting with someone tomorrow to see a few different apartments close to where I will be studying! Yay!
Prior to getting my phone situated and a response to see some apartments, it felt like a ton of work with no results. It is hard and frustrating. Despite the difficulty of the situation, I kept praying, researching and trusting that the Lord will provide for me.
I am reminded of a phrase when looking for a new center in Phuket,
“God says yes and I have something better for you”.
We often mistake His ‘no’s” as defeat and want to give up all hope, when in reality it is just not what He had planned for His beautiful children.
UPDATE (7/18 at 11am Thai time): The man showing me the apartments says there are none available at this time. The next one opens up in 4 weeks. I’m still going to look at them today, but this may be a setback.
Prayer Requests:
I find an apartment (soon), my visa, and getting set up with the school goes smoothly.
For my body to rest and adjust to this new climate, food and routine.
Praises
I have peace.
I made it safely to Thailand with my bags and with little to no jet lag!
I’m staying in a Christian run Guesthouse.
Welcome back to your second home! May God provide the perfect apartment for you Liz! It was fun to see you around SCF while you were home.
🙂
It was really fun and such a gift to hang around SCF while I was home! And now I’m back home in a new way!
Praying for God to lead you to the perfect apartment! Love and miss you!

Let me know when we can skype. So glad you got the cell phone all taken care of . Sounds like a lot of stuff, but you will get settled soon and find a routine. Miss you and love you
Sandy and Bruce too
Thanks for praying for me sandy!
The best times to Skype me right now are my mornings and your early evenings. 8am here is 6pm for you. I struggle with staying up past 10pm….maybe that’s the jet lag or just me being tired.
Say hi to mr Bruce for me!
So thankful for the peace He’s given you! Praying for you as you transition…if anyone is up to the challenge of learning a new dialect, it’s you!
Sending life, love and prayers.
Cath
P.s. are fimiliar w/ the Journey Team that’s working on the Thailand/Berma boarder? It’s led by World Race alumi and might be a good connection for you.
Thanks Catherine! That means a lot!
I’ve heard a little about the journey team. I want to be able to support and join a ministry, just keeping my eyes and ears open to all that is here.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Liz, I’m so sad to hear it has been frustrating. 😦
I hope you aren’t feeling alone. You are wisely seeking Gods truths in the midst of it. Your SCF family is praying for you and want to feel that in our hearts we are there with you. I know things will smooth out and get better with a little more time. Stay strong. Praying for an awesome apt to be available so you can get settled. Love you !
Alex
Thanks Alex. I’m meeting with the agent in a few hours. I’m hopeful something will work out today.
Thank you for praying and all of your encouraging words!
So glad that you’re safe and have a safe place to stay! We’ll be praying for you as you acclimate and settle in!
Thanks so much! Your support means so much to me!
Sweet, sweet Liz, You are so very blessed!!! I can’t imagine doing all that you do, God knows what a chicken I am and He also knows your strengths and weaknesses(sp?) so I know He has the perfect plan for where you will be living. It is such a blessing knowing that He is in charge, especially since He knows everything. I was so excited to read how you were doing and to know what you need, so I can be praying for you. It was such a blessing to get to know you so much better, thank you. Lots of love and prayers, Jan
Thanks so much Janice! You are always such an encouragement! And I agree, I loved getting the chance to get to know you when I was back in Reno!
Hi Liz.
So glad you arrived safe and sound. God loves you much He will guide you and take care of you and your needs. I will pray for you.
Love, Betty
Amen!!
