Holding Hands

We had another girl join SHE (Gay) about 2 weeks ago and I too have been praying that we would be able to connect and start a friendship. The first week, it seemed like she was avoiding me, but I think she was just testing the waters-seeing if I was cool or not.

Then one day I went out with a new team to Big Buddha. It is a large idol ontop of a mountain that overlooks the south part of Phuket. The views are breathtaking, then you turn around and see this man-made idol (not so breathtaking). It is a time of praising the God ‘who spent a little extra time on Phuket’ but also for this Buddhist nation.

Gay asked to come along. We were able to drive together in the back of a truck with the new team. We were able to share her story to the new teammates and teach them a little Thai. Then right when we were able to start walking up to Big Buddha, she grabs my hand.

Now this may not seem like a big deal, but it is HUGE in our relationship. It is a sign of friendship.

From that moment, things have changed so much. We were able to talk under a shade tree, share a bag of chips & dried fruit, teach English/Thai to eachother and the list goes on and on.

I am excited for this new relationship.

You can continue to join me in prayer over these women I am blessed to serve alongside with.

That’s really cool Liz. Two friendship break-throughs in a week. Praying for you.
